It's no secret that Pujol is one of Mexico City's best restaurants, so it comes as no surprise that Enrique Olvera's NYC eatery is spectacular. From its former-Strip Club space in the Flatiron, interiors ooze an urban sophistication that alas gives to respect to Mexican haute cuisine. Concrete floors mix with spare bookcases and chunky seating arrangements filled with impressed New Yorkers.

The Food

A lunch and dinner menu include uni tostada with avocado and bone marrow salsa, sliced raw fish with poblano and lime or NY strip tartare with smoked beans and cured egg yolk. Larger plates vary between scallops with avocado aioli and Branzino with mole verde and pine nuts.

Last Word

Enrique Olvera of Mexico City's acclaimed Pujol does Mexican cuisine with seasonal ingredients from the Hudson Valley in NYC's Flatiron District.
