Club 77 has been legendary in Sydney for 20+ years as a grimy dive with a youthful clientele, now it's relaunched as 77 Night Club and is targeted at an older, more discerning crowd. Well, not that much older: instead of 18-20 year-olds, think 22-24 year-olds now. It's still a crowd very focused on fun and partying the night away. First order of business was updating the décor: the new bar is serpentine and elegant, red and black leather booths add comfy seating for groups. There's ample floor space for dancing and mingling, live music and DJs are scheduled nightly. There's a small but tasty menu if you want food with your drinks. A couple burgers and a couple versions of fries (regular and “dirty” topped with cheese and special sauce) are suitable for filling stomachs and soaking up alcohol.
Tips
And now the important part: the aforementioned alcohol. The bar is large and lavishly stocked, with an array of favorites and more unconventional selections. Don't expect handmade cocktails and innovative custom creations, do expect all the standards delivered with confidence and a stiff pour. Ample selection of beers and wines means there's a little something for everyone.
Last Word
Stiff drinks and a buzzy, clubby scene make 77 Night Club the perfect Sydney place to celebrate late into the night and not remember much the following morning.
