  • The hilltop town of Praiano is one of the least touristy on the Amalfi, really an overgrown fishing village nestled on a green hilltop above a zigzag series of paths leading to the town's small harbor. While close enough to enjoy the fruits and sights of other more-famous Amalfi cities, Praiano is where working class people still work and live far away from the tourist hum of Ravello or Positano. Rolling hills of wild flowers and blossoming bougainvillea are intersected by dramatic views of the Mediterranean where Casa Angelina rises above the surrounding neighborhood like a bright beacon of white walls and glass for its stylish collection of travelers.

A sleek five-story hotel of white minimalism overlooks a tranquil panorama of ocean views. The interior of the hotel is a vision of white with ivory slipcovered-sofas and freestanding lamps draped in fabric.  A teak terrace and small lap pool is surrounded by resin Philippe Stark patio furnishings and slightly more comfy redwood loungers topped off with oiled-up Italians and paler Brits yet to get that Amalfi glow. A small lobby lounge offers a cozy early evening haunt for guests to recount their various Amalfi adventures within the cool confines of the town's most fashionable bar before hitting in-house Un Piano nel Cielo restaurant with its Mediterranean menu for all-day dining.

  • The Room:

While spoiled in terms of location and ocean views, hillside architecture and limited space of the location mean for sometimes compact guest space in lower, entry-level room categories like an ultra-compact single sea view room aimed at solo travelers and measuring at a miniscule 250-square feet with institutional white-tile floors better suited for overflow household staff in tow on summer vacations. Canopy Rooms are the way to go if on a budget, in crisp white loft-style spaces with tall ceiling and white herringbone floors. While all guest rooms come with balcony or some type of sea view, larger Terrace Rooms come with dazzling outdoor spaces with private loungers and tables for romantic sunset dinners. A series of 4 private apartments are also located adjacent to the property and act as the suite-level room category with private kitchens and magical private gardens.
