Luxury Spa Hotel

The US debut of Como Hotels that operates such esteemed properties as Parrot Cay and The Halkin, Metropolitan Miami extends its micro-brand from London and Bangkok. It’s a pedigree boutique property, alas bringing a healthy dose of spa culture to a city that was beginning to feel like Vegas by the beach. The location is ideal, closer to Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive than the Setai or Soho House with setback location that’s easier to get in and out of via the valet. Inside, a serine palette of creamy whites with grays and sea foam mixes eclectic contemporary décor with native deco architecture. There’s no DJ in the lobby, no fish tank or fountains, not even a doorman. The lobby connects to Traymore restaurant, the all-day eatery with terrace seafood-minded menu and supplemental spa selections curated by COMO Shambhala " its premium spa line. Across the hall is the bar, curated by a staff of mixologists that specialize in all things gin. Through the rear of the property is the main pool that’s more preening spa than thumping splash club with direct access to the pedestrian road and beach with its own lounger service. As for the spa, it’s on the 8th floor and offers a holistic playground of four treatment rooms, outdoor yoga terrace, fitness room and a rooftop hydrotherapy pool with its own menu of signature COMO Shambhala juices.

The Room

Occupying the former 1930s Traymore Hotel, COMO undertook a complete renovation of the property that extends to all floors and 74 rooms. Entry-level rooms feature city-facing views over the Intracoastal with King-size bed and spare selection of chair and desk. Gentle striping and geometric patterns in soothing pastel tones lead to monochromatic bathrooms with rainfall shower and in-house toiletries. Entry-level suites aren’t as large as you might expect with separate living and bedroom ideal for longer stays. Top-of-the-line Ocean View and penthouse COMO Suite, however, feature a more generous design palette with gracious living room, kitchenette and dining room albeit with small balconies only in select room categories.
