Luxury Hotel
A 19th century hotel palace along Montreal's famed Sherbrooke Street, its gilded façade offers the most luxurious hotel address in the city that's convenient walking distance to the city's commercial and financial core. Benefiting from a complete refurbishment that closed the hotel for almost a year in 2008, today guests enter a lobby trimmed in veiny Calcutta marble with modern décor of circular club chairs and plush banquettes. A series of parlor rooms trimmed in white-mirrored panels and palm-strewn ceiling offers antiques from the building's original opening including crystal chandeliers and museum-worthy oil paintings. In-house dining options include Maison Boulud, an epicurean embassy from 3-star Michelin chef Daniel Boulud that's the best hotel restaurant in the city. More formal than many of Montreal's boutique hotel options, its lounge and bar tend towards the dressy. Further amenities include an impressively equipped fitness center and indoor lap pool with views of the Montreal skyline.
The Room
Entry-level guest rooms are bright spaces with picture windows with city views and walls adorned in bronze-tinted coverings. Beds feature attractive embossed headboards with simple desk and window seat configuration. Larger rooms offer additional perks like wood flooring and room dividers with small seating area.
