Private suites, flat bed aboard JetBlue Mint

September 18, 2014 08.16 AM

When traveling across the United States, we’re often appalled by the state of premium class offerings on domestic US carriers. Where’s the footrest? Why is there no entertainment? How old is the cloth on these seats? Those are just some of the initial we’ve pondered while flying United, Delta and 2-class American flights between coasts. Long the darling of budget travellers, JetBlue presents its premium Mint service that’s a revolutionary new First Class-style offering on select LA/SF to JFK flights. Its upgraded Mint service begins on airport arrival with dedicated check-in, Speed-thru security screening and early boarding onto its new fleet of Airbus A321 that’s a longer, somewhat quieter version of its predecessor. Once aboard, stylish black leather seats are in alternating 2-and-1-row configuration with solo travelers finding a retractable door that secures the individual suite in total semi-privacy. Each seat is fully flat bed with perks like a massage and firmness control as well as free Wi-Fi and entertainment on 15” video monitor. Meal service comes from Saxon + Parloe with desserts by Mahr-Ze-Dahr Bakery and amenity kits by Birchbox. Once on the ground, bags are promised to arrive first on the carousel but we still advise travelers to simply carry-it on to save time. As for booking JetBlue Mint, promotional fares of $599 each way are now available through Fall 2014.
