For art elite, The Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain �" better known as FIAC ranks as one of the most beloved contemporary art fair of the year located at Paris’s Grand Palais from October 23rd. This year the fair includes exhibitors from over 26 countries displaying art from 190 galleries. The 4-day event anchors a series of art events, micro-fairs and openings around Paris that include the debut of the Louis Vuitton Foundation museum on the perimeter of Bois de Boulogne park. The museum was designed by architect Frank Gehry, drawing on a series of oblong, exploding silhouettes for a transparent ‘iceberg-like’ landmark alongside a sunken reflection pool. Those looking to see Parl McCarthy’s ‘The tree’ that was erected along Place Vendome will sadly be disappointed as the continuous installation that many compared to a sex toy was vandalized has been dismantled. Further highlights of the week include the reopening of the Picasso Museum Paris after a 5-year remodel that alas comes to an end later this week. Opening the doors on its 17th Century mansion in the Marais, visitors will find a wider collection of the Spanish artist on display as well as an exhibition space that’s almost doubled. For those that can’t make it to the Paris installment of FIAC will find the fair moving across the Atlantic to Los Angeles in 2015 as the first FIAC L.A. coincides with Paris Photo LA for a secondary fair of Modern Masters, Contemporary Art and Architecture from March 27th 2015.
