Le Baron VIP romp in former hooker bar

  • hours
    Wed. - Sun. 10:30pm-4am
  • It's been unstoppable since opening, or at least till mid-2008 when neighbors in the ever-fashionable 8th finally got their way and forced this booming underground dance bar to silence the music. Not closed forever, the club embarked on an ambitious soundproofing project that hopes to quell the complaints of its fussy neighbors. Launched in 2004, this two-room VIP romp was an instant star of the Paris nightlife circuit attracting couture icons like Mary-Kate Olson, Sofia Coppola and Bjork to its storefront location along Avenue Marceau. Paparazzi flashbulbs ignite most nights as the club's star inhabitants inevitably engage in their latest conquest of local guys and girls and sometimes even both. The club isn't as large as you would expect, divided between a small lounge of leather banquettes under two-way mirrors and nearby bar surrounded in edgy semi-nude photography from various fashion photographers of the early 20th Century. The dance floor tends to be a sweatbox on busier weekend, as DJs Rik and Ze spin 80s punk-rock and Michael Jackson's Off the Wall till the wee hours of the morning.
