  • Missing the flash and bling of Rome or Milan nightlife, Verona maintains a quieter presence after dark as locals stalk the inner street of old town heading into beloved eateries, trattorias and wine bars for their nightly amusement. Along a charming street in the center of old town is one of Verona's oldest restaurants, camouflaged behind glass windows and interior dining room cast under shanks of prosciutto and endless black-and-white photos that cover most of the surrounding walls.

A quintessential Italian trattoria, al Pompiere has a livelier following of boisterous locals that arrive for late night suppers and bottles of house wine complimented by an array of cheese and meat platters cut while you watch. With the backbeat of Italian love anthems and occasional jazz staple, the atmosphere is great to capture the true essence of this sometime-touristy Medieval town and entirely free of Juliet references.

While open late nights throughout the week as well as for lunch, Sundays are usually dark as well as Monday lunchtime as the staff trickles in from a late weekend.
