Hot on the heels of ever-popular Whampoa Club Shanghai, chef Jereme Leung brings his hip spin on traditional Chinese cuisine to a historic courtyard within Beijing's financial district. Located in one of the last siheyuans within the Chinese capital, the restaurant is arranged around an elaborate central dining room with glass ceiling suspended with some-10,000 illuminated, metal-encrusted disks. Creating a twinkling backdrop to the lower level and main floor dining rooms, the central restaurant also offers a series of private dining rooms, available for larger parties, open to a central banquet area and lounge with interconnecting lotus ponds.

The Food

More Shanghai than traditional Beijing cuisine, Leung creates a contemporary Chinese menu that begins with appetizers such as soy sauce-braised Pomfret Fillets Terrine; black mushroom salad with chrysanthemum petals, a duo of cabbage and spinach Rolls with shrimp and spiced tofu mousse. Available with a full tasting menu or ala carte, salads and seafood soups are offered as appetizers or middle course. Entrees include King Prawns with ginger and garlic, braised pork knuckles and Beijing pancakes filled with foie gras and Pork Filling. Dessert is a sampling of traditional almond cream, almond egg tart and candied roasted almonds with collection of candies.
