Centrale Restaurant and Bar

Architectural gourmand in central Beirut

Mar Maroun Street Beirut Lebanon

restaurants

It's been one of Beirut's trendiest eateries even before a recent remodel unveiled an upgraded dining room and expanded bar area.  This two-level eatery is divided between a lower-level bistro with chocolate color walls and leather banquette seating and an upper-level bar area with retractable, open-air roof popular brimming with upscale singles. Weekend features live jazz ensembles and the occasional solo artist that morphs into a full-on nightclub scene with house DJs spinning electronic tunes anytime after 1am.

The Food

An elegant dining room dates back to the 1930s, the perfect backdrop for a grown-up French menu offering continental specialties and regional comfort food. Meals begin with tomato and Parmesan tart, salade de homages or selection of carpaccio platters. Main course is a sampling of mixed grill specialties of beef or lamb, market-fresh fish and variety of pastas. For dessert a staff of bakers recreate French treasures like mixed berry pastries, vanilla souffles and homemade gelato.

Last Word

Historic two-story dining room is home to one of Beirut’s coolest French eateries. If making a weekend reservation try for a later timeslot like 11pm that will give you the best of the dining room and bar afterawards.
