Its name conjures images of salivating Greek foodies and Euro-signs in the eyes of locals that know it as the island's best and most expensive destination eatery. With a treasure trove of food awards and magazine stars, the ever-posh Koukoumavlos offers a glamorous Fira dining room and terrace with spectacular views of the cobalt blue Caldera. The kitchen is ruled by chef Nikolas Pouliasi, working his magic in a village residence that once belonged to a naval officer that's now ruled by starving epicureans that know his reputation. The Food
A seasonal menu of Greco-frenc inspired flavors begins with traditional local appetizers like a Kataifi wrapped in hair angel pasta flavored with rose petals. Heartier eaters find a grilled foie gras with raisin paste drizzled with grape syrup. Main course is a teeter-tooter of risotto with okra and veal carpaccio or steamed white fish with olive and cocoa paste.
