restaurants

One of two restaurants at the esteemed Il San Pietro outside of Italy's Positano, it's the only one that open to non-hotel residents and coincidentally the only one with a Michelin Star. Set in the main building of the hotel and through the glamorous lobby that comes to life at night with the sparkling city lights of distant Positano in view, the main dining room is a serious dining institution cast in floor-to-ceiling metal windows with sparkling chandeliers and large table of sparkling crystal and draped white tablecloths attended by a meticulous black-tied staff. Surrounding the main dining room is a large eat-out terrace under a white linen awning that's the choice reservation during summer, usually nabbed by in-house hotel guests. While jackets are not required, there often the norm at evening dinner service that stops at an abrupt 10pm.

The Food

Belgian-born chef Alois Vanlangenaeker creates a locally inspired menu with obvious Amalfi influences of lemon and ample olive oil with personal on-site vegetable garden grown along the terraced hillside of the hotel. Prix fixe chef’s menu or ala carte selections include a bevy of homemade pastas, seafood salads and exotic soups. Main course flips traditional Italian cuisine with intricate grilled meats, baked fish and lobster topped with whimsical foams and imaginative accompaniments.

Last Word

Michelin-rated Positano eatery located at Il San Pietro offers Amalfi views and gourmand experience with on-site cooking school available for longer gourmet stays. For a more affordable option, try the lunch service available daily from 12pm offering smaller portions and abbreviated bills.
