The Place:
Restaurant Macakizi

The Scene:
It's known by many as a luxury boutique hotel on Bodrum's posh northern stretch of Turkbuku, but to villa-owning residents and Turkish elite it's a prized beach club restaurant in one of the area's very best locations. Sprawling-out in front of a series of two-story villas adorned with flowering bougainvillea and olive trees, an outdoor dining room is concealed under triangular white canopies over a teak deck the touches the pristine blue waters of the harbor. Chunky teak outdoor furnishings compliment a sprawling waterfront beach club (minus an actual beach) by day with direct access to a neighboring swimming cove perfect for leisurely lunches while watching pretty people swim with endless bottles of Rose and evening suppers that last till 12am.

The Food:
You can than owner Ayla who’s kept the top-notch pedigree of this waterfront hotel up to par for more than three decades. By day, hotel guests and locals nosh on oversize fruit and salad trays as well as heartier plates of grilled chicken, beef and seafood. Dinner is a much more formal affair as chilled champagne buckets are swapped for red wine decanted along a terrace dining room that’s one of the chicest of any area hotel. Under a canopy of olive trees and twinkling night sky, dinner evolves from shared plates of octopus or tuna carpaccio to salads topped with grilled shrimp and calamari to entrees for sardines, white fish and seafood specialties.

Last Word:
Don’t expect to get there afoot, Macakizi's collection of private boat ferry hotel and dinner guests over to and from the village of Turkbuku.
