The Scene:

Over the last decade the Hvar hotel landscape has witnessed the erosion of some of its more humble family-style resorts in lieu of glitzy harbor palaces popular with western European tourists. Before there was a Riva or an Adrianna, there were hotels like the Podstine that lured moneyed Yugoslavians to this island resort. It wasn't long after that the rather small Podstine Restaurant expanded onto a lavish outdoor terrace where today, despite the area competition; it remains one of the town's best eateries. A laidback atmosphere of flip-flop wearers and chatty children tuck into one of the table located under a pine tree forest with blossoming citrus trees and jasmine.
