  • The Scene:

Hoteliers Fasano originally made a name for themselves as restaurateurs in Sao Paulo, extending their empire to Rio and now the chic Uruguayan Riviera. The hilltop restaurant is located a short drive from the main hotel complex, cocooned inside a room of jagged stacked stones with chocolate wood paneling and walls of glass that face a rolling hillside and ocean horizon. During colder weather, which is actually most of the year, crackling fireplaces will entertain villa-owning locals inside a hip lounge and café with counter-style seating. Outside, a massive terrace maximizes the summertime Uruguayan experience amongst a décor of modernist furnishings and home-style tabletop details that give the hotel its estancia feel with infinite views.

  • The Food:

Expect a mostly Italian menu at Fasano Las Piedras, inspired form the family’s original Sao Paulo eatery that derives its culinary inspiration from across Italy’s Piedmont, Sicily and nether-Tuscany regions. Uruguay has a serious foodie scene, so expect big things from this signature eatery that aims to compete on the level of Fasano' s best Sao Paulo and Rio eateries. Formal dinnertime dining means signature seafood dishes that are a staple of local cuisine followed-up with homemade pastas and raviolis that are a signature of Fasano. Grilled meats like veal chop and fillet are cooked outside when possible on the open grill with periodic parties planned through high season, complimented by an array of seafood specialties indigenous to Uruguay.
