I guess you don’t want to mess with a winning formula, in this case Nobu and its designer David Rockwell that’s created a ubiquitous looks for a global empire of restaurant ranging from Malibu to Beijing. Nobu Beijing is located in an upscale strip of the Chaoyang Central business District through a private entrance off the main lobby of the JW Marriott Hotel. Not as fancy a hotel as we’re use to for Nobu, the JW Marriott Beijing is actually regarded as one of the capital’s better addresses despite it rather mundane US reputation. The space is surrounded by several luxury retail stores ideal for showy lunches and be-seen dinner surely to be a stalwart of Beijing’s entertainment crowd.

The Food

Nobu Beijing offers signature dishes from the Nobu repertoire intermixed with local specialties and fish sourced from Japan’s famous Tsukiji market daily. Dishes like Toro tartar with caviar and Kobe tataki sashimi offer signature dishes that keep guests coming on an almost ritualistic basis. Most outposts of the restaurants feature the same Miso black cod and Sea Bass that caters to squeamish eaters still apprehensive about raw fish. Sushi lovers should indulge in the various selections of albacore, salmon and Spanish Mackerel sashimi cut to perfection.
