Just 20-minutes outside downtown Beirut near Aïshti Jal el Dib, the owners of White debut a waterfront seafood eatery that's one of the chicest dining scenes outside the city. White Coast is located on the Mediterranean waterfront within a minimalist architectural building with black-coated façade with logo detailing. Inside, a beach club-inspired setting of teak floors and ocean horizon is cushioned by wrap-around banquettes in aqua-colored upholstery.  Walls are accented in knotty wood paneled interspersed with tropical plants to bring the outdoors in for those not lucky enough to score a spot on the terrace. And what a terrace it is, large enough for a hundred or so guests along a cantilevered deck facing the crashing waves of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Food

Given the views and location, food at White Coast doesn’t even have to be that good to warrant a weekend visit. Luckily, however, the food is impeccable with a menu of Mediterranean seafood cuisine with a Lebanese flair. Meals begin with cold mezzes like grilled calamari or fresh crab salad and warm options like grilled octopus and fried calamari with tarragon tartar. Main course includes impressive shrimp linguini, grilled prawns with steamed vegetables and catch of the day that includes sea bass baked in salt or chili that’s a chef specialty. More adventurous diners should also try the selection of clay pot entrees that include crab, mussels and shrimp that’s a local seaside tradition.
