  • The Scene:

The Chicago restaurant opening of the season, Nellcôte occupies the former Marché restaurant space along the Randolph Street Corridor.  Owned by Element Collective who also operate RM Champagne Lounge and Socialista, Nellcôte is inspired by an époque revival mansion along France's Villefranche-sur-Mer known for its summertime parties and address that was a popular romp for the Rolling Stones in the 1970s. The Chicago installment is interpreted through a grand dining room that mixes antique elements of exposed concrete columns, rafter ceiling and iron windows with more refined details of Louis XIV chairs, crystal chandeliers and white-washed herringbone floors.

Chef Jared Van Camp presides over a refined, somewhat knobby menu of “locally focused bill of fare” with influences that stem from France, Italy and Spain translated through ingredients sourced exclusively from the Midwest.
