Currently the toughest reserving in the city, aside from Brooklyn Faire that's, well, in Brooklyn, is found at the flagship eatery of the Nomad Hotel. The thoroughly New York space born out of the mid of Jacque Garcia, creator of Paris's Hotel Costes, mixes elements of Victorian New York with rouge-dripped Montmartre. The lobby-adjacent dining room connects to a rear bar and lounge with dim light and mysterious ambiance that comes to life amongst tightly-packed tables and coveted booths that are among the toughest to book in town.
The Food
While we normally frown on hotel eateries, 3-star Michelin Daniel Humm wows with a California-inspired menu that’s a must inside this stylish dining room brimming with over-anxious foodies. The menu includes a fresh-backed bread that will probably make you far too full for the snack of beef tartare or grand plateau raw bar followed by appetizers like roasted cauliflower with grapes, foie gras torchoun and King crab tagliatelle. Main course is a meticulous narrative of butternut squash with Morcilla sausage, sow-cooked lobster with leeks and chicken for two that is perhaps the best roast chicken currently serves in the city.
Last Word
Hotel guests are given select seatings. If no reservation, arrive at 5:30pm when the restaurant opens and woo the host.
