There's no DJ, no sand floor and not even a single swathe of leopard print fabric at all to be found. Without a gimmick or hip-hop hook to lure in summer jetsetters, Le Bistro is an eatery the reminds of the other St. Tropez that lives between the months of September and June. Specializing in all things truffle, its scent alone leads you to its entrance along cobblestone alleyway strewn in Provencal flags and covered seating area that's packed anytime after 9pm. Inside, a cozy two-level dining room is lined in knotty wood floors with prominent wine bar, tables arranged in bistro chairs and exposed brick walls lined in oversize mirrors and black-and-white photos of St. Tropez yesteryear.

The Food

Specializing in predominantly truffle packed, topped and infused dishes inspired by star-chef Bruno de Lorgues, a choice of ala carte or prix fix menus include options that are far more affordable than you’d expect to find in St. Tropez. Appetizers yield fragrant seasonal salads, terrine of foie gras or carpaccio options laden with fresh shavings of truffle. Pastas dazzle including variations of stuffed ravioli and risotto that begs to be a main course all on its own. Main course keeps it mostly traditional with options from grilled fillet and roast chicken to langoustines and lobster that make this one of the best summer dinners in St. Tropez.

Last Word

Chef Bruno de Lorgues goes truffle-mad at cozy St. Tropez bistro that a welcome alternative in the town’s summer dining scene.
