The latest Parisian restaurateur to make their return to Beirut, Liza Asseily brings her creative spin on Middle Eastern cuisine to a glamorous dining room in the Achrafieh neighborhood. Located within a former 19th Century mandate palace also home to La Posta restaurant, interiors have been conceptualized with carved wood windows and painted tile floors. Décor mixes mid-century Saarinen tables and more modern leather-bound chairs within interconnecting rooms emblazoned in wall coverings depicting Lebanon’s former currency and bold tropical banana leaves. The crowd includes some of the most fashionable and well-known faces in Beirut on hand for weekday dinner and weekend lunch.

The Food

A traditional Middle Eastern menu with influences of Lebanese and French cuisine begins with a singular, seasonal menu served for lunch and dinner. Starters include grilled seafood dished, familiar Chanlish, mezza salads from hummus and moutabbal as well as eggplant and grilled halloum. Main course is a meatier affair with signature lamb dishes as well and roast chicken and select seafood special based on daily markets.
