It's been a while since we've seen anything truly new in Berlin's Mitte neighborhood, until Gorki Apartments arrived with its urban loft apartments that make you forget ever wanting to check-into a hotel. Ideally located near Rosenthaler Platz among a sea of cool cafes, shops and galleries, the property acts as very much the proper hotel despite its name with small reception with daytime hours, in-house café and neighboring restaurant that all lend a thoroughly community feel to a city that sometimes feels like a series of conjoined boroughs.
The Room
A series of Categorki numbered apartments and duel penthouses exude a proletarian charm of simple wood floors, spare artwork and industrial décor with bourgeoisie touches of steel, iron and wood in every eye view. Entry-level apartments offer quirky architectural features like step-down living area, built-in kitchenettes and safes large enough for laptops. Upgraded rooms come with more space with separate living and bathroom as well dining rooms that open to a generous balcony.
