Located in the former-Laundry and Lodge space, Race Lane enters high season as a sure-fire hotspot after dominating last year as East Hampton's toughest reservation. A chic beach space of indoor/outdoor architecture includes elements of rustic industrial design like a dual-sided brick fireplace near a copper-top bar with cozy lounge on one side and more formal dining area on the other. A rafter ceiling makes for a brighter space by day, striding three massive beams with vintage wood detailing. Outside, a large outdoor terrace offers seating and playful bar with a life of its own on busier summer weekends.
The Food
Jay and Rowaida Plumeri, who also ran NY’s 41 Greenwich Café, oversee a kitchen with chef Dana Lamel that mixes elements of American and Mediterranean cuisine. Standout dishes include appetizer favorites like lump crab cakes, beer braised short ribs and lobster macaroni & cheese. Main course mixes whole over roasted Branzino, signature burger with aged cheddar and weekly pasta specials topped with fresh-caught seafood. Don’t skip out before dessert, as the chocolate/chocolate chip bread pudding and Nutella Crème Brûlée are nothing short of delicious.
