Secluded atop the Brisas Marques neighborhood of Acapulco overlooking Puerto Marques Bay and the Pacific Ocean, this sculptural white resort with peek-a-boo balconies and pristine pool area has become the latest it-hotel in Acapulco. Opened in late 2009, the interior lobby is decorated in all white custom-designed furniture with white marble floors and interesting architectural cut-outs for unforeseen terraces overlooking the blue horizon. Ambient LCD lighting and projection displays give a futuristic vibe that at times feels equal parts nightclub and boutique hotel.
At the heart of Encanto is perhaps its best amenity, namely a black bottom pool with infinity ledge on one side and teak deck on the other outfitted in Balinese loungers and oversize sofas conducive to showoff afternoon by Mexican TV heartthrobs and American honeymooners on the Acapulco Riviera. An in-house gym offers a lavishly decorated fitness area as well as upcoming Natura Bisse Spa.
Encanto is home to three eateries including Flor de Mar 360°, the hotel's signature restaurant, lead by Mexican Celebrity Chef Monica Patiño, who conceived a menu of local cuisine with intricate Asian flavors. Chef Patiño also created a special menu for the Lounge area as well as as a casual cafe for all-day dining. But be sure to get in a disco nap come late afternoon before hitting the Lounge Bar for late night lounge culture that last till 2am.
The Room
The 44-room hotel was developed by Aragones with the intention to offer each guest a nurturing haven created by expansive personal space, personalized lighting and unparalled ocean views. Entry-level rooms are sparse but stylish with natural stone floors and platform beds built on illuminated pedestals with changeable color tones that are controled by remote control. Stone is used on most every surface, which means lots of echo and cold feet in the morning as guests skip onto their own personal balconies with lounge seating and built-in stone banquette. Bathrooms are well designed with separate show and bath and L'Occitane products. Even larger pool villas some with 1500-sq. ft outdoor area with plunge pool and entertaining area with loungers and dining table for lavish dinner parties overlooking Puerto Marques Bay.
