Luxury Design Hotel
Boutique hotels are a common occurrence in Buenos Aires neighborhoods like Palermo and San Telmo, but an opening in the ever-posh Recoleta is truly a news event. An area more familiar with Four Seasons and Park Hyatt gets a substantive addition with this six-story remodeled 1920s belle époque mansion located in the heart of Buenos Aires' best neighborhood. The hotel is a mini-compound of 10 suites ranging from 1,200 square feet featuring a mix of antiques and cutting-edge designs by B&B Italia and Cappellini from acclaimed architect and designer Gerhard Heusch.
The main floor hotel features a 50-seat formal French-fusion restaurant with wine bar and library lounge that opens to a covered outside patio with crackling fireplace. Rooftop Le Spa Le Spa features steam, sauna, and massage rooms as well as relaxation areas where guests are lavished in treatment options from an extensive menu of sexy local staff. Outside, teak decks and loungers surround a rooftop swimmer's pool of blue mosaic tiles that are a tad modern for the overall hotel but with summertime tanning and small bar perfect for afternoon soirées.
The Room
Attended by 24-hour butlers, rooms overlook a shaded residential street and exquisite four-story waterfall cascading from the rooftop to the lobby. Suites are categorized in Ambassador, Imperial and Royal sizes with separate living areas with black baby grand pianos and integrated wet bars. Large living spaces with dining room feature ebony wood floors, B&B Italia furniture and original works of art by local artists. Beds are decked with Frette linens in a canopy of wood near bathrooms decorated in Italian Calcutta marble and Côté Bastide bath products.
