Luxury Boutique Resort

Baie des Flamands is one of the more stylish locations on St. Barts and Isle de France has long been its most fashionable hotel. Now operated under the Cheval Blanc brand, part of Louis Vuitton, the property has undergone a full refurbishment to match the caliber of its sister-properties in Courchevel and the Maldives. Located directly on one of the sexiest beaches on the island, Isle de France is contained within a series of interconnecting cottages trimmed in pale blue pastel under a canopy of mature palm trees and tropical vegetation. A narrow driveway leads to the staircase entrance with covered terrace and long hallway lined in columns with head-on Caribbean glimpse.

Modern minimalism features a whitewashed palette of beach elegance leading to the beachfront resort deck with waterfront pool and direct access to the on-sand beach club open for lunch. La Case Restaurant is one of the best of any hotel on the island, serving an all-day menu of fusion food with a seafood-leaning menu within a dining room with 20-ft. ceiling and surrounded in open terraces and gentile sea winds. A sizable spa by Guerlain offers all-day beauty treatments popular with island locals as well as guests.

The Room

The hotel is home to 12 individually decorated bungalows in addition to a series of villas available for purchase under the hotels seasonal time-sharing option. Entry-level rooms offer garden-facing views from their hillside perch inside whitewashed cottages with slipcovered décor and simple marble bathrooms. Newer beach suites are located on the sand, recently upgraded in 2009, with wide plank hardwood floors and sophisticated design choices from natural linen curtains, full kitchens and waterfront terraces with private plunge pools. Bathrooms are the best you’ll find on the island with freestanding bathtubs facing a walled garden with architectural fountain and lavish outdoor shower.
