Gastro-Hotel
Like a lumberjack version of Ace Hotel in a Chicago borough, Longman & Eagle is an acclaimed gastropub of culinary perfection preferred by a flannel-clad contingent that descend on the Logan Square eatery day and night. The location offers a 6-room boutique hotel of refined bohemian comforts that mixes the styling elements of Paul Bunyon with angsty JD Salinger. A simple 1940s two-story putty-color brick building enwraps the main eatery with a series of stylish rooms accessed through colorful corridors and doors emblazoned with P.T. Barnum font. No spa or business center with a bike rack in front in lieu of a valet, the hotel is built around its one incredible amenity that's a hotspot bar with impeccable selection of whiskey and biodynamic wines as well as a prized all-day eatery helmed by chef Jared Wentworth that's first-come first served even for hotel guests.
The Room
A series of six bedrooms are hip urban spaces are defined by exposed brick walls with wide-plank wood floors amongst all-white walls and ceiling. Beds wrapped in rustic headboards are stylishly shoved into corners as rod iron lamps with extended arm ignite walls adorned with exquisite, moody, sexy artwork by Margaret Dubrow and Virgil Wong. Mostly integrated bathrooms are lined in white subway tiles with antique frame mirrors above double farmhouse sinks with occasional clawfoot tub captured under oversize picture window. Fluffy linens and premium bath products by local purveyors displayed on open shelves round out the luxury equation of this enclave of cool Chicago style.
