Hotel Sezz makes finds its resort home well outside St. Tropez's coveted port where the Byblos Hotel rules supreme. Along a narrow two-way residential street, a walled property accessed through stylized hedges and sliding gate drawn around a futuristic commune of swimming pool, outdoor bar, and summertime champagne society that has all the locals talking. One-story architecture by Jean-Jacques Ory and interiors by Christophe Pillet make a bold visual statement around a sleek pool with infinity edges and cubist stone element running through the center. A pristine lobby with pitched ceiling and metal-framed walls of glass allow the outdoors and indoors to blend together amongst Pillet-designed furnishings intermixed with Emeco lounge chairs and lounge furnishings that nod towards modish 50s design.

In lieu of red carpet, natural stone floors lead to Colette eatery that's one of the finest eateries of any St. Tropez boutique hotel.  Colette was originally created by 3-star Michelin chef Pierre Gagnaire, now maintained by a creative chef who maintains a culinary fortitude through contact with local farmers and food purveyors. The 60-seat dining room with its poolside terrace and white glove service is open to hotel guests and non-guests alike, as well as catering a poolside and room-service menu. If the luster of Pierre Gagnaire's name wasn't logo enough, Sezz has one-upped the partnership of nearby Kube Hotel and Grey Goose with its own Dom Perignon sponsored Le Bar that will serve a poolside menu from an outdoor cabana bar with real life Dom Perignon pool helpers in addition to service from its more-snazzier indoor champagne lounge offering evening DJ scene throughout July and August.

The Room

A total of 37-guest room are contained within inventive one-story bungalows that surround the property and blend into this Provencal landscape that’s far closer to the beach, those of Les Salins like La Plage des Canebiers, than you are use to in St. Tropez. Rooms are quintessential Pallet with spaces that feel more spaceship futurist than St. Tropez eclectic with his own signature designs used for floating shelves, beds built into the wall and abstract light fixtures by Mazzega and Oluce. Entry-level level bungalows measure in around 300-sqaure feet but feel quite a bit bigger given the integrated outdoor terraces. 30 larger Cocoon rooms that make up the bulk of the property with integrated lounges and walled terraces big enough for entertaining. Two private villas include pricier perks like personal plunge pools with complete privacy from outside eyes. Bathrooms are open-flow spaces divided by glass and accessorized with Kiehl’s products, still a real novelty in France, with larger Cocoons boasting their own soaking tubs and additional terraces from the bathroom.
