Design Hotel
We always fear itchy sheets and cheap toiletries when checking out design brands like Dream owned by Wyndham or competitors like Andaz or Element. But given Dream's mastery of the Big Apple, the South Beach redux proves equally cool with a deco Moroccan flair that's a unique statement in this area of Miami Beach. An 11th and Collins location is ideal for those looking to enjoy the amusements of South Beach, designer stores like The Webster or nearby gay beach. A powder white exterior originally penned by Lawrence Murray Dixon leads to a boutique lobby of polished floors and spare décor of low loungers and minimalist pieces by Kelly Ogden scattered at the edges of the room. Dining is truly a dream at Tudor House, a glam dining space by Geoffrey Zakarian of NY's The Lambs Club. On the roof is High Bar, the hotel's pool bar with a sexy pop art spin home to an all-day cabana and cocktail scene. While at the beach, local The Boucher Brothers provides hotel lounger service on the sand.
The Room
Fully refurbished with soundproof windows and walls, a total of 108 guest rooms include nine junior suites, two duplex sun suites and sun house penthouse that’s one of the best in South Beach. Rooms were designed by Michael Czysz, who mixes elements of Moroccan design for bedrooms where beds float in the center of the room in a moody glow of blue ambient lighting. Floor of modern dark hardwoods accent all guest room categories with junior suites offering small parlor areas and duplex suites boasting dramatic outdoor lounges with indoor/outdoor showers. As for the bath products we so feared: they’re one of the only hotel in Miami with Etro bath products.
