For a certain demographic that rotates between Le Bristol in Paris and the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes, Palais Namaskar is the most ambitious hotel opening to hit North Africa in a generation. Cast in the Palmerie between the Atlas Mountains and the Djebilet Hills, on April 4th European luxury brand Oetker Collection debuts a showstopper resort property that could soon join the ranks of Amanjena and La Mamounia as the chicest addresses in Marrakech.
Namaskar seems fit for a king with its ethereal archways that embezzle the building's mostly single-story exterior in a sea of endless reflection and swimming pools almost too formal to brave a wake. Le Spa Namaskar is set within a pavilion of outdoor baths, tropical showers, yoga center and heated pools surrounded by tranquil gardens with on-site fitness center. Dining is contained within two eateries including gourmand Le Namaskar led by Antoine Perray with its polished-chic interiors and Moroccan dining with a Mediterranean kick.
The Room
Small when compared to the area resort competition that hovers well above 100-rooms, Namaskar is home to a mere 41 guest rooms and suites including an even higher room category of villas and private palaces fit for the most regal and rich of guests. Interiors show inferior luxury brands how it’s done with a sophisticated design aesthetic of spare lounges mixed with rich upholstered pieces, Italian-inspired furnishings and pop of antique flair that will likely find its place atop the local hotel competition. Top-of-the-line palace suites are constructed under domed bastions with private pools and garden ideal for entertaining on a royal level.
