It's not the usual hotel you'd find browsing our website, but Freehand Miami is a new concept in the world of hostels that includes the developer behind such brands as Ace and NY's NoMad Hotel. This stylish hipster-centric hotel concept finds its way to a 1930s art deco hotel located near the intercostal on a northern swathe of Miami Beach that's still closer to Lincoln Road and South Beach than the Soho House or W Hotel. An interior lobby preserved of its vintage windows and period lighting is infused with a bohemian aesthetic of woven rugs, Danish furnishings and folky artwork sourced by Roman & Williams that also did the Ace in New York. The property has all the amenities of a design hotel hotspot from retro preening pool to artesian cocktail bar called Broken Shaker open till 2am. Opening in Spring 2013, The House restaurant will be located within a historic structure adjacent to the hotel with garden bar and homegrown chef.

The Room

The Freehand disguises its hostel-secret well behind its lively lobby and the collection of fashionable hipsters that clog its bar and poolside. But upon checking-in guests are given the option of both fully private or shared rooms that include the super-affordable Super 8 that has eight twin-size bunks of strangers with privacy screens infused with a collegiate camp feel of timber floors, hotel-grade linens and $50 per night price tag. Details like fully inclusive breakfast and shared bathroom lends a communal charm with the comfort level of an actual hotel. Fully private rooms come in quad size available with similar amenities and no need for shower sharing as well as a Standard King for lone artists complete with private bathroom lined in limey green and white tiles.
