The first Aman to debut in a major European city, Aman Canal Grande finds a suitable home inside a 16th century Gian Giacomo dé Grigi palazzo once occupied by an aristocratic family. Later in the 19th Century the property transferred title and was emblazoned with ornate detailing by a leading artisan of Neo-Renaissance and Rococo styles that resulted in the look and feel of the property today. Visitors arrive by private water transfer and are swept inside the palazzo's grandiose reception embellished in historic frescos and reliefs. The main parlor connects to a series of passageways that open out onto the palazzo's private gardens, a rarity in Venice and a result of the previous owner's purchase and subsequent demolition of the neighboring structures. A central, spiral staircase links to the property's main dining room, nestled in the former-ballroom of the palazzo, with views of the Grand Canal reflected in period mirrors and ornate chandeliers. Two additional rooms, Yellow and Red Rooms, feature additional dining options under ceilings painted by 18th-century artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. Additionally, a parlor style Salon offers piano bar and cocktail scene for in-house guests as well as a rooftop garden with views that stretch across the city.

The Room

A total of 24 suites feature individual floor plans that stem from the building’s age, yielding to divine spaces embellished in historically protected frescos, ceiling reliefs and artesian details. Like sleeping in a museum, Aman updates the spaces with a modern design choice that mixes elements of modern Italian design with refined textures of leather, walnut and mohair. Room views differ by category with entry-level palazzo bedroom and chambers faxing the private garden or Grand Canal. Five signature accommodations offer the most monumental of details for history and art lovers including our favorite Alcova Tiepolo Suites with Chinese-painted sitting room and bedroom ceiling by Tiepolo.
