One of the world’s largest hospitality brands, Sol Melia unveils its latest hotel brands known as the Beach House Hotel located in Mallorca’s surf-minded Magaluf and part of the new Calvià Beach Resort that’s also home to sibling property Sol Wave House. A former mid-rise hotel in desperate need of a makeover, the Beach House was the first in a series of upgrades that hope to up to swap beer pints for champagne magnums in this well-known party town. New windows and upgraded architectural façade with sleek logo give the hotel a more native feel than just another chain brand. Inside, a lobby of blushy-beige marble floors is ignited by the light of floor-to-ceiling windows with spare modern design of low-flng club chairs, built-in banquettes and subtle Morrocan influences. Pop art and wall divider with a geometric egde separate casual eatery and lounge leading to a grand pool deck and direct access to affiliated Nikki Beach with its all-day preening pool and sunset DJs throughout the summer season.
The Room
A total of 100 guest rooms are well sized at just above 500-sqaure feet with all interior furnishings derived locally in a commitment from Melia to spur local development and not build just another chain hotel. The result is a collection of cool and trendy space with ashy, wide-plank hardwood floors and mostly white furnishing with open-flow bathrooms and large picture windows with small balconies. Standout amenities include bathtubs located in front of the window and access to on-site gym with personal trainers, yoga and pilates. A mix of Sol Melia’s high-end ME brand with influences of W Hotels party-theme, dislikes at the Beach House included fully exposed wardrobes that divide bathroom and sleeping area and somewhat boring wall décor that includes little more than a mirror in some rooms.
