Luxury Hotel

The first new-build ski hotels from the Oetker Collection, owners of Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc and Brenner's Park, L' Apogee is located in Courchevel 1850 atop a prestigious peak once home to a former Olympic ski jump. Today, it's the site of a sophisticated design hotel with luxury pedigree created by designers India Mahdavi and Joseph Dirand. In a ski town with no shortage of luxury hotels, L' Apogee maintains more of a family feel albeit with a plush 5-star spin that's evident upon entrance to its lobby with series of parlor-style lounges arranged in wood-paneled walls and spare décor of custom-curved couches and antiqued mirrors. Grand architectural details are subtly communicated along a staircase that leads to in-house eatery Le Comptoir de L'Apogée by chef Franck Feriutti as well as an elegant champagne lounge and larger Le Bar de L'Apogée that immediately becomes one of the hottest in 1850. The in-house spa seems geared towards guests on longer seasonal stays with well-equipped fitness studio, indoor pool and Le Spa de L'Apogée with hairdresser and treatments rooms by Sisley.

The Room

With its modern spin on classic Alpine architecture, the main hotel offers a total of just 53 rooms and suites in addition to a luxury penthouse and L'Amarante ski chalet with full-staff and private lift to the slopes. Entry-level rooms are hedonist cocoons of plaid wool rugs, wood-paneled walls and faux fur throws. Bathrooms are original design spaces with marble slab floors, deco-inspired vanities and separate shower-bath arrangements. Colors like emerald green, ruby red and chocolate brown define mohair, cashmere and valet fabrics. Larger suites come with separate living and bedroom with spacious terraces with heated floors. The penthouse features four bedrooms, dining room and rooftop with private hot tub and indoor Jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath in the master.
