One of the most fashionable addresses in the Caribbean, this English-owned hotel is bouncing off a massive expansion and renovation that touched every surface of every room in the structure. Nestled on a peninsula of white sand intersecting St. Jean Beach, the new space offers a modern-yet-intimate experience of bold-tropical colors, natural wood accents and upgraded common areas. Originally a private residence by Remy DeHaenen, a celebrated local adventurer, the house was acquired by English couple David and Jane Matthews who initially intended to use it as a holiday home. The hotel offers two of the islands most famous locales, On the Rocks and The Sand Bar, both of which maintain their original French staff. A private beach offers access to snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and yachting trips to nearby islands. For the sun-exhausted there is also Jane's Gallery offering an artists-in-residence program with hands-on instruction and lessons.
The Room
Guests arriving to St. Barts for the first time are often disappointed in the range of accommodations made available to them. A short-drive from the main town, this destination hotel offers some of the newest and most stylish accommodations on the island complete with upgraded guest rooms and spa-minded bathrooms. The entry-level cottage guest room features a cutesy decor of floral print fabrics and Provencal furnishing with obstructed sea views, if possible splurge for something larger. The classic and premium suites are more lavishly decorated with antiques and local artwork in addition to offering more expansive views and larger bathrooms.
