On Berlin's rebuilt Potsdamer Platz, the Mandala combines purist style with modern elegance for a chain the united the luxury class. The mid-rise property yields 166 rooms renowned for sleek design and functionality accessed through a glass entryway on a very busy section of sidewalk. The hotel expresses itself through inspirational interiors and genuinely courteous service with plenty of sparse modern design and rather-pretty slabs of onyx. The hotel offers a hip social lounge known as QIU lounge that is one of the premier hotel bars in Berlin. Additionally, the Michelin-rated FACIL restaurant has become a destination in itself for local foodies.
The Room
Thanks to the reconstruction of post-Cold War Germany, Potsdamer Platz feels more like Sony headquarters than the thriving downtown of one of the world's foremost cities. Mandala Hotel, however, compensates with a stunning yet comfortable hotel in German modernist design. Defined by technology, each room offers between 40m² and 100m² of living room full of gadgets, discretely integrated into the room's design. Bathrooms feature large soaking tubs and stone showers, but with toiletries that seem left over from the DDR-days. Guests should beware of warmer summer month, as the most of the hotel rooms have no air-conditioning. An 11th floor fitness lounge and wellness spa, provides a view across the rooftops of Berlin while guest run, bike and row at their own pace. With balconies, fun workspace with wireless LAN and enough cute chic people to build a Reich, Madison delivers style with true hotel substance.
