It’s located just north of Beirut along one of the prettiest stretches of waterfront to yet disrupted by a steel-and-glass high-rise that’s plaguing new Beirut. Chez Sami is owned the Rizkallah family, who oversee this meticulous beach-club style eatery located behind the façade of a cobblestone building next to a sandy beach on the bay of Jounieh just a few minutes away from Casino du Liban. Inside, a stylish dining area is arranged in surprisingly modern lounge furnishings framed by panels of glass that lead to the main attraction, a lively outdoor terrace overlooking the sea and frequented by Lebanon’s social elite as well as visiting pop stars and actors from the Arab world.<br />&nbsp;

The Food

Arguably the best and most famous seafood restaurant in Lebanon, Chez Sami Offers a lengthy day and night menu derived from a fleet of local fisherman that work exclusively for the restaurant in addition to sourcing the local produce markets of Keserwan, Jbeil, Metn and Beirut. Meals best to begin with a platter of mezzes like stuffed grape leaves, houmus, tabuleh, cheese pies and sashimi in addition to sardines that many foreigners never quite warm up to. Various raw, grilled, blackened and baked fish include langoustines, lobster, cod, sole, swordfish, tuna, halibut and snapper depending on the catch of the morning. An exquisite list of Lebanese wines as well as those from Cyprus put authentic local-foodie flair on meals.

Last Word

Beach-club style dining room just outside Beirut is drawn with a formal flair for fresh caught seafood popular with celebrities and political elite.
