Occupying a 1930s masonry building in Logan Square, Fat Rice has become one of Chicago\'s hottest eatery as well as one of the most difficult to actually get into. No reservations accepted and no parties bigger than six, a stylish one-room dining room that mixes Portuguese and Chinese flavors. The Food
Abraham Conlon proves his numerous culinary accolades in a kitchen that turns out innovative small dishes like pumpkin soup with fried bread, salted cod with mint and pork sausage with chili cabbage. Medium plates unfold with mixed greens in chutney vinaigrette, pepper steak with egg and fat noodles with mushrooms. Larger plates come with coconut rice next to smatterings of fish curry, Portuguese chicken and catfish claypot.
