Midway between Positano and Amalfi where the cliffs jettison into the sea, Il Pirata is located on the edge of Praiano along a charming promenade that leads to a series of waterfront terraces and seafront compound. Down a concrete walkway, its entrance looks no different than so many other Amalfi eateries descending towards the sea within a series of indoor and outdoor dining rooms and cavernous lounge bar that offers late night amusement from April through October.
The Food
Perfect for late day lunch and casual dinner, this waterfront dining room specializes in local caught seafood with ala carte menu. Meals begin with selections of crudo, carpaccio and seasonal salads topped with local burrata and Parmesan. Pasta course should not be missed and perhaps ordered in doubles with incredible red and white sauces on homemade stuffed ravioli as well as sea urchin linguine and langoustine spaghetti. Main course include hefty fried fish dishes as well as more simple grilled white fish and shellfish specialties of the region.
Last Word
Also operating a series of guesthouses and three-room hotel, the owners offer a small beach club during summer months for diners and in-house guests.
