It's fashionable Prada pedigree is coupled with a rare designer debut by Grand Budapest Hotel-director Wes Anderson. The result is a visually provocation cafe and lounge space that caps the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Under a grand arched ceiling, details of retro 1960s Italy prevail from Formica-accented furniture to veneered wood walls painted in an array of vivid monochromatic colors that feel equal parts soundstage and cafe culture. The crowd includes international visitors and fashionable types on hand for late-afternoon mixing and early evening supper.
The Food
In one corner of the room, pinball machines lurk behind a crowd of skinny-suited Italianos while on the other ladies sip high-tea over homemade pastries. An all-day menu allows for early morning cafe-style breakfast leading into more glamorous lunch faire and proper dinner.
