It’s the second largest Hermes store in the French capital, opened in late-2010 along Rue de Sèvre along the Left Bank. In lieu of gentile glass cases of watches and silken scarves, the entrance of this location is a fragrant one with flower shop of abstract and avant-garde arrangements by celebrity Parisian florist Baptiste Pitou. Inside, a surprisingly informal loft-style space is housed within the former swimming pool space of the Lutetia Hotel built in the early 1930s. Reconfigured with oversize wooden huts by Denis Montel, the micro-spaces feature a vast array of Hermes La Maison that’s the line’s pricey home furnishings collection ranging from tabletop artwork to the Pippa travel line of surprisingly light and durable pearwood construction. The upper level, however, is the best find of all and features the first ever 30-seat Hermes café and tea house called Le Plongeoir, or the diving board, offering a bistro menu of club sandwiches, rare teas and homemade pastries served on an incredible selection of Hermes porcelain and silver spoons for all.
