It's one of the most famous streets in Milan and with it comes one of the city's starriest eateries that happens to be one of our favorites anywhere. Bagutta is accessed via a retro entrance with bold-font signage on a landmark building covered in wooden shutters. A single doorway leads to a long hallways and series of magnificent dining rooms defined by incredible carved wood ceilings and floors that transition between hand-laid brick, terracotta and period hardwoods. But the real showstopper is the walls that are covered in every inch by framed portraits and innumerous murals ranging from impressionistic landscapes to abstract modern art.
The Food
A classic Italian trattoria experience begins with appetizers from beef carpaccio, zucchini flowers and burrata dishes available ala carte or on the antipasto buffet. Leafy salads leave a bit to be desired but the pasta is really what you come here for from the signature rigatoni to stuffed ravioli and daily truffle specialties. Main course varies between signature veal dishes that can be swapped with chicken as well as Bistecca Fiorentina and variations on shrimp and squid dishes.
