A shining elevator entrance swoops guests to the top of Heron Tower and the exquisitely designed Sushisamba penned by architects Cetra Ruddy along the 38th and 39th floor rooftop. A dramatic space lined in terrazzo floors and colorful play on Lucite for walls and staircase frames an indoor bar and dining room under domed bamboo ceiling with walls of glass framing the London skyline. Heavy use of geometric accents compliments bold pop art murals on walls and mosaic tile floors that lead to a driftwood-inspired sushi bar. The main attraction in warmer weather, however, is one of the largest outdoor terraces in London with fire-pit, sexy lounge and cocktail bar second to none.
The Food
A predominantly Latin-influenced menu of Peruvian and Brazilian specialties with an Asian edge begins with appetizers of corn tamales with broad bean succotash, calamari with fried plantain and rock shrimp tempura with black truffle vinaigrette. A full raw bar of sashimi ceviche, traditional nigiri and cut rolls like the Samba London roll offer a thoroughly Latin spin. Main course returns to its mostly-Peruvian roots with wood-fired octopus, wagyu picanha and poussin teriyaki.
