Tuna Restaurant 11 Via Veneto Roma Italy

restaurants

Located along a very posh strip of Via Veneto, this all-white dining room divided into several intimate alcoves and long drinking bar offers a sleek yet food-worthy dining destination in an area better known for its style than substance. Lined in wide-plank hard wood floors with an aged patina, the main dining room is arranged in all-white leather club chairs with identically white tables and built-shelving that surround the room in ornamental porcelain that look like a scene out of Marcel Wander's play book. With large picture windows overlooking the outside fashion parade, five-light crystal chandeliers are strewn from the ceiling casting the perfect balance of modern minimalism and high-fashion design sense.

The Food

Billed as Rome's hippest seafood eatery, Tuna is an all"white palace of high-end fish that begins with a selection of raw bar specialties like tuna tartare, jumbo shrimp or carpaccio of the day. Cooked appetizers tend to be the more popular order, with midget mussels in olive oil, octopus salad and calamari with artichoke tempura. Pasta course is big enough to enjoy as an entrée with Spaghetti in clam sauce, vermicelli topped with lobster or pacheri pasta in fish sauce. Main course is mainly a seafood medley of terrine of fish soup, lobster ala Catalan, and a eggplant soufflé with tuna and tomatoes.

Last Word

Dessert is a mix of fresh fruit, chocolate puddings and homemade pastries that aren’t as nearly as delicious as the nearby warm waffles and the neighboring gelato retailer.
