One of the newer hotels in town, St. Regis Aspen embarked on a rather surprising design overhaul in 2011 that left the entire hotel transformed from a traditional luxury hotel to a fashionable design resort that seems a worthy competitor to eternal hotspot The Little Nell. Leading the look of the remodel was Rottet Studio looking to, "Conceptualize a quintessential mountain manor similar to what John Jacob Astor would have designed during the Gilded Age."

The result is a stunning transformation beginning in the lobby that takes on a more airy design with modern lounge areas arranged in creamy leather couches, club chairs accented in nickel detailing near a two-sided stacked limestone fireplace. Rustic and industrial undertones provide a more relevant design feel for the resort that often felt staid despite its relatively young age prior to the renovation. The restaurant comes alive with a tufted leather banquette that wraps around the room with marble topped tables, club chairs upholstered in hide and slate-colored wood paneling. Outside, a new pool deck maximizes wintertime play with outdoor firepit, après-ski service and trendy new following that only improves on its existing popularity.

The Room

Visitors arrive to a new guest room experience at St. Regis Aspen that includes entry-level rooms transformed with rustic wood flowing, windows awash with creamy drapery and leather-clad platform beds with wingback headboard detail. Black-and-white sketches of various animal prints are strewn on walls with pop of bright red writing desk and geometric print pillows albeit with an odd selection of accent chairs with headrest. Bathrooms are covered in veiny white marble with contrasting vanity and soaking tub that’s just about the best in town for those booking non-suite level rooms. Suites offer detached living and bedroom configuration in addition to a separate Residence Club with range of fractional and full-ownership options.
