The Room
In contrast to area resorts like the St. Regis, Ritz-Carlton and Surf and Sand; Montage beckons a California beach spirit expressed through simple hotel guestrooms to more elaborate bungalow accommodations. Guests enter a simple yet chic lobby area with inlaid wood and an impressive art collection from Edgar Payne and William Wendt. A large pane window frames the Pacific seascape so perfectly that it looks like a portrait in of itself. The property is lavish in detail as all rooms are ornamented with crown moldings, marble bathes and comfortably elegant furnishings. Rooms vary in size, location and price with standard rooms in the main building being far less preferable to the 37 beach bungalow-style accommodations. The bungalows boast private terraces, large decks and sunsets that are near poetic. All rooms beam with 400-thread count linens, separate sitting areas and bathtubs that demand to be used.
