Luxury Boutique Hotel
It's the most exquisite (and expensive) address in Cape Town, Ellerman House is a luxury micro-hotel of just 12 rooms located above Bantry Bay. A dramatic white villa rises above an ocean silhouette framed by extravagant lawn that wraps around a rectangular swimming pool and gentile arrangement of sun loungers facing one of the prettiest hotel views in the city. What feels like a private residence, inside Ellerman a series of grand common areas is fitted with one of the best art collections in South Africa with artists like George Pemba, Cameron Platter and Thomas Bowler. Meals are taken in the dining room where a staff of culinary pioneers interprets international recipes and South African ingredients paired with a wine cellar of over 7,000 bottles. A full-service gym includes three treatment rooms, therapy steam room, large sauna and additional infinity pool as well as a well-equipped gym.
The Room
A total of just 11 rooms and one 5-bedroom villa are arranged along the house’s main sleeping level defined by grand terraces facing the resort lawn and sea or dramatic mountain vistas. Rooms are arranged by number in a mix of modern and more traditional design scheme like the #2 with its wavy fabric walls and windows adorned with pale blue drapes framing a bay view and distant Robben Island. Room ten has a more aristocratic design with bed covered in emerald green duvet and quaff club chairs facing an antique writing table. Those looking to book the best room in the house discover two-level Ellerman Villa with furnished terrace large enough for entertaining with its own plunge pool and a total of five bedrooms that include sweeping views of the sea and Bantry Bay.
