Cheeky's has been one of Palm Springs' most popular breakfast and lunch spots for years along a modernist indoor-outdoor dining room located on Palm Canyon near the posh Las Palmas neighborhood. Its signature patio is usually surrounded in a queue of hungry, fashionable locals that wait upwards of 30-minutes on busier weekends for a spot along the coveted patio or diner-style indoor dining room with its minimalist styling and abstract artwork. Those looking to avoid the long lines should plan for an early arrival, no later than 9am, or a bit later in the day around 1pm just before closing. In 2011, the restaurant's owners debuted a neighboring pizza eatery called Birba with wood fire oven and cocktail bar open in the evening.
The Food
Perhaps the best dining experience in the city, a self-effacing casualness hides a powerhouse menu of signature BLT with jalapeno bacon, lobster pot pie and grass-fed burger on a brioche bun only open till 2-pm on weekends. An in-house pastry chef, Deb Menduno, whips up a daily batch of cookies, old-fashioned doughnuts and croissant cinnamon rolls washed-down with Cheeky’s signature watermelon agua fresca or an antioxidant smoothie.
