For those unfamiliar with the Milanese outpost of Finger's, owned by football player Clarence Seedorf, this resort outpost of the Japanese eatery offers a starry port location in the center of Porto Cervo. The eatery is arranged along a popular pedestrian strip of the main port privy to Gwyneth Paltrow or Steven Spielberg passing by en route to their moored yacht. Inside, a traditionally Sardinian architecture of low-roof and exposed stone elements surround an otherwise authentic Japanese dining room and dressier lounge club with roots traced back to the chef's native Brazil.
The Food
A menu of traditional Japanese sushi and sashimi is complimented by a South American spin by chef-sensation Roberto Okabe. The dinner-only eatery offers nightly presentations in summer that include standout dishes like a Gunkan Lobster or Sushi Gio that are best paired with simple dishes of salmon, Toro and yellowtail sashimi. Those that preferred cooked dishes find a more Brazilian grill of items including daily fresh catch and standout specials that offer innovative beef dishes. For those that doubt the culinary prowess of a non-native Japanese chef, keep in mind that Sao Paulo is home to the largest Japanese ex-pat community in the world.
